My pregnant cat is bleeding and breathing hard. Is she in labor?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Siamese | Female | unspayed | 1 year and 6 months old

My cat is pregnant and bleeding lightly from vaginal area. She is being very nice and she is usually skittish. She's breathing heavily and her stomach feels tight but her abdominal area is kind of hard but soft. She keeps laying in dark areas where nobody is around. I put a box with padding and kind of a dim lighting but she won't stay in there. This is her second litter.

Your kitty will pick the place she thinks is perfect, so you can try to put the box where she is resting. No point in arguing with her. Cat mamas know best. So if she is coming for cuddles, give her cuddles as long as she wants them. eventually she will either go away to have her babies, or have them on your lap if she so sees fit.
