Why is only one of my cat's nails ridged and weird? Is it normal?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Maine Coon | Female | spayed | 12 lbs

I have a Maine Coone kitty who is 5 years old. While trimming, I noticed rear her nail looked weird and had ridges. It's the only one like that. Is it normal?

It may be "normal" for Tegan. A cat's nails will change with age. It's possible she injured it previously, causing the odd growth. Keep an eye on it and keep it trimmed to prevent snags or overgrowth.
