Why is my dog whining and limping on his front leg when walking?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | American Bulldog | Male | unneutered | 1 year and 1 month old | 70 lbs

My dogs left arm is bothering him. I can grab him anywhere and won’t flinch. But when he walks on it it hurts him and he wines about his arm. He acts normal besides the whining, his nose is normal.

Hi! Thanks for entrusting us with Thor's care today! Lameness or pain can be a sign of a few things that range from a muscle sprain to even a fracture. I recommend that you have him evaluated by your veterinarian so that this can be further assessed which will likely include radiographs. Treatment will be dependent on findings though at the very least pain control medications can be prescribed. For now, try to rest him as much as possible which in itself can make a big difference. Good luck! Hoping for a speedy recovery!
