Why does my dog keep flapping her ears after ear mite treatment?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Female | unspayed | 1 year and 10 months old | 70 lbs

hello, my dog keeps flapping her ears. i thought that meant she has ear mites, so I bought ear mite medicine. How long should it take to get rid of them.. it seems to be fine, then in a few days, she's flapping again.. Is it safe to keep using it in her ears?

I would be more concerned that Myna has an ear infection not just ear mites. Ear mites are not that common in dogs, although can happen. I recommend taking Myna to a veterinarian and letting them check her ears to see if there is an infection. If they are concerned about ear mites they can check under the microscope for them. I would not keep applying medication for ear mites when Myna may not need that type of medication at all. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
