Why is my unspayed dog suddenly aggressive and hiding with toys?

Hi, my dog has all of a sudden become aggressive over a toy, shes a 5 year old catahoula. It started 3 days ago. She would hide under a big plant and only come out for food. She took all her toys to the hole under the plant and whimper and lay on them. She came out today and lay in a cubby house with this one ball. If I go near her she nudges the ball and growls till I go away. Yesterday and this morning she came out and was happy for a cuddle but now she won't come out. Any ideas? Pet's info: Dog | Catahoula Leopard Dog | Female | unspayed | 5 years and 6 months old | 66 lbs
