Cat straining to poop, making noises after wormer. Is she constipated?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Female | spayed | 7 years old | 5.5 lbs

my cat-spayed female, 5.5 lbs, has always been happy, healthy, but lately been "scooting", so I gave her a wormer. I think she finally stopped scooting- but about 4 days after her medicine, she hopped up on our bed (as usual every morning) and suddenly! made this "hee-oo" kind of noise, and her sides started heaving, like she was trying to push out a bowl movement. I put her off the bed, so she wouldn't poop on the bed, and on the floor, she no longer exhibited more symptems. What is wrong?

I am not sure that these two events are related. For now I wold recommend monitoring Sky Blue for any ongoing symptoms. If you see any further difficulties defectaing, or any scooting, you should take her to your Veterinarian right away. Should could have full anal glands that need to be expressed or she could be constipated.
