Pet's info: Dog | English Cocker Spaniel | Male | neutered | 3 months and 4 days old | 25 lbs
I noticed that our 13 week old puppy was having trouble defecating and my wife’s hair was in his feces. He’s still able to go, but he is going less frequently. It’s usually a bigger normal one, followed by a few less solid ones. He is in good spirits and doesn’t seem to be in pain, but I’m wondering if we should worry? is there anything we can do to make sure he’s cleared out and healthy?

Hello. Puppies will sometimes eat amazing things, & this can get them into a lot of trouble. Most people know to keep kitchen garbage stowed away, but bathroom trash often gets overlooked. Hair from a cleaned out hairbrush is a neat treat for a nosy puppy. I would feed Louie 2 teaspoons of canned or cooked pumpkin twice daily for a few days. The increased fiber should push anything through. Watch for signs of bloating, abdominal pain, vomiting, loss of appetite or lethargy which are all potential signs of a blockage & a need for immediate veterinary care. Thaks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
