My declawed cat has a crooked nail. Should I trim it to avoid pain?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Ragdoll | Female | spayed

My rag doll cat is about 12 years old and is declawed from the front but I noticed she has this one crooked nail still on her front paws. Should I cut this nail? I don’t want it to hurt her when she walks. Thank you!

Yes you should very carefully cut this nail before it causes skin problems. If you are afraid to do this, take her to your vet to have it cut properly. They may show you how, so you can do it yourself the next time when it is necessary.
