My dog won't eat breakfast. Is it safe to force-feed him baby food?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Spitz | Male | unneutered | 11 months and 15 days old | 7 lbs

Norik refuses to eat in the morning, but he eats around 7 pm normal meal. Do you think if i force feed him a few tablespoons of baby food like beef, chicken or turkey, no onion or garlic in the morning it’s ok? I don’t like him to have an empty stomach all day. He doesn’t have any health issues.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Norik. You can try offering him the baby food, but he may not take it. Some dogs prefer to only eat one meal per day. My main concern in this scenario is the stomach acid can build causes vomiting just prior to the next feeding. So in his case the vomiting would likely occur around 5-7pm. If is not happening, there is likely no harm in his current feeding schedule as long as he is not dropping weight. I worry that force feedig him will be upsetting to him. You ca try though and see how it goes. The baby food you mentioned should all be safe choices. Good luck!
