Jack is such a handsome boy! Each brand of dog food has a different daily requirement on the bag, so I would feed him according to the instructions on his bag of food. Divide it into two equal portions to feed him twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening. Best of luck, I hope this helps!

Oh my goodness, Sergi is so cute! Each bag of food has a different daily requirement, so read his bag of puppy food's instructions to get that amount. Divide it into three equal portions to feed him morning, noon, and evening. Once he is six months old, you can feed him twice a day, morning and evening. I hope this helps!

Thank you for using Boop by Petco! If Jack is eating about the same amount each day, you can switch him over to eating twice a day and making sure that his weight is stable. Most dog food bags will have feeding directions on them which show how much food should be fed per day for dogs of a certain weight. Congrats on your new dog, Paps is very handsome! He should be fed twice a day, and I would feed him according to the instructions on the food package. Divide the recommended daily allotment into two equal servings, and feed him morning and evening. Now if that's what you are doing and he seems very hungry, then divide the daily allotment into three portions and feed him morning, noon, and evening. Be sure to feed him a high quality dog food brand, as those will have the best ingredients to help keep him full and satisfied. Brands I recommend include Royal Canin, Hill's Science diet, Purina ProPlan, and Iams. I hope this helps, enjoy your handsome boy :-)

Pepe is a wired hair terrier/dachshund mix. Can you give me an idea of what he may weigh as an adult? He is now 4 months and is about 12-5 lbs. he lost a half a pound in one week. Should he lose at all at this age? I fostered a few pugs in the past,
Based on his current weight, I would expect this mix to be around 30 lbs when he reaches adulthood, but this is a rough estimate. They shouldn't be losing any weight as puppies, but this does happen sometimes when they are in a new environment, or have a medical condition (i.e. diarrhea). I wouldn't be too worried if he lost a little weight, but is otherwise acting normal and appears healthy. It's good that you are thinking about controlling his diet. I recommend feeding a small breed puppy food to Pepe until he is about eight months old, then he can be switched to an adult food. A good dog food will have the adequate amount of calories calculated into their recommended feeding guidelines (can find this on the bag). If you feed according to that and limit the amount of treats and/or table scraps he gets, then you should be able to keep him from getting overweight. Hi my puppy is 4 months old and weighs 36lbs. I know I should feed him three times a day, but is the amount consistent each feeding period. He eats Purina Puppy Chow, it says he should eat 1cup3/4 - 2cup1/3.
Thanks for using Boop by Petco! I usually just go in the middle. The bag recommends about 2 cups per day so break that amount into 3 feedings (they don’t have to be equal). Be sure to continue to follow the bag as his age and weight changes. Kisses to Ace!

Good morning , Ihave been in a battle with my wife and 2 daugherts about the right amount of food for our Maltese , 5 years old , the insist to feed him twice a day 1/4 cup, of small bites. Are they correct ?
Since the various dog foods differ in ingredients and nutritional value, the best way to find out how much to feed Coco is to look at the label of the bag of food where it should tell you how much to feed him daily Split the daily ration up into two feeds. If the bag's label does not tell you how much to feed, then you should consider changing his food to a good quality dog food for small breeds from a reputable company.

Ideally he would eat four times a day. At the least, he should be fed three times a day. It's best to feed a quality puppy food that is specifically formulated for puppies and it should be fed according to the manufacturers recommendations - they will have the daily recommended amount per body weight. It depends entirely on the brand of food, the amount recommended are written on the food label that you are feeding her, it is the daily amount requirement so you would need to divide this amount by 4 if you are feeding her 4 times a day.

How many times and what weight should my maltese puppy eat in a day, because he is always hungry?
Puppies should be fed 3-4 times a day. As for the amount, feed according to the instructions on the bag of dog food. Space the daily amount out during the day. So for example, if the bag says to feed 3/4 cup of puppy food twice a day, feed him 1/2 a cup three times a day. Smaller meals are easier to digest for the puppy and energy levels don't peak and fall so much with frequent meals. I would recommend feeding your puppy a high quality puppy formulated food, such as Royal Canin or Hills Science diet. Make sure the food is formulated for puppies, as they have higher requires of calories, protein and calcium for growth, and adult dog food will not provide that.
