My senior cat has a weepy eye. What should I do to treat it?

My senior cat has a weepy eye. Sometimes its weepy, other times its just fine. Is there anything we can do beyond just keeping it clean?

Yes, you can have Manny seen by a vet for this problem. This can be an indication of an eye infection, and that needs to be treated with medication for it to clear up. I'd give your vet a call today to make an appointment for him to be seen.

I would have Junor seen by a vet. This discharge can be indicative of an eye infection, and that requires an antibiotic eye ointment to treat. The eye is such a delicate and important structure that any problem with it should be considered an emergency. That's because leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. I would take Junor into a vet right away to have his eyes examined and treated.

Nick has had eye problems since i picked him up out of a parking lot. We've had one eye removed and he recovered from that just fine. I want to know why his "good eye" is still weeping. It's been on going for a year now. What do I do, please help me.

Although a picture would help to determine the underlying cause more specifically, that is likely to be due to a mild to moderate conjunctivitis, probably secondary to an allergy or infection. A check up would be needed as appropriate treatment would include antibiotics and anti-inflammatory eye drops. Corneal injuries must be ruled out as well. I would seek more help for Amma. The eye is such a delicate and important structure, and leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. It may be time to seek the opinion of a veterinary ophthalmologist to diagnose what is causing her eye problems so she can be treated. I would speak to your vet to see if there is one in your area that you can make an appointment. At the very least, take her back into your vet this week. I hope this helps!

I've got a cat that's a tortoiseshell female. Not very old due to having her own kittens. My guess it's less than a year old. My question is its constantly has a weeping eye. I've had a look to see if there's anything in it but there's not. Any ideas

My cat Phoebe (about 14 years old) often has issues with her eye becoming red and watery but it goes away in a day or two. However, two days ago she had it again, but afterwards I noticed a small sore above her eye. Today there is a pink area as well
The swelling is unusual and I would be concerned there is some sort of infection of tumor underneath. I don't recommend to treat this at home and instead recommend to have her examined by the veterinarian. That's the only way to accurately access this lesion and determine if anything needs to be done about it. You do need to make sure she is not rubbing at the area and she may need to wear an elizabethan collar. I hope this helps and please feel free to post any additional questions.

My 15 yr old cat gets hard crust and snot looking discharge around her eyes constantly. I can't afford to take the poor girl to a vet. What can i do?
Without seeing the eyes myself it is hard to say what the problem could be. She is 15 years old so there are many diseases of the eyes that could be happening. You can try this ophthalmic gel in the eyes once to twice a day to see if it helps but really, she should see a vet. It could be Moxie has an eye infection causing the issues you are seeing. I would take him into the vet first thing in the morning. Any eye problem needs to be checked out promptly because leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. The vet can treat his eye as needed. Best of luck.

She is a beauty! It is difficult for me to say for sure without doing an exam of my own. It looks Ike she is having some eye discharge from the inside corners of her eyes. This can be a normal discharge and can increase with changing of the seasons. You can try Benadryl twice a day as This may help. See link below. If the discharge even becomes green or yellow or she is squinting her eyes, then I would have your vet look at it as it could be something more serious. If you are talking about her third eyelid coming up, this could also be due to eye irritation, allergies, or even something more serious like a corneal ulcer. You can try the Benadryl and flushing her eye with some artificial tear drops, but if it isn’t improving I would have a vet look at her when you can. My 14 year old cat has one watery eye. There is redness in the tissue under the eyelids and possibly a bit of swelling. This has been going on for 3 days and my vet can't get me in for another 5 days. I'm wondering if I should go to the emergency vet
I always lean toward being more careful with eye conditions. Even though you could likely wait 5 days, I would probably go to the emergency vet if it was my cat. And it is likely uncomfortable for Roxie, so I would like to get it treated. Eye conditions can become very severe very quickly, so I would have it evaluated sooner rather than later. Something is wrong with my cats eye
Poor Bubby! It definitely does look like there is a problem with his right eye. Squinting, excessive discharge, and an elevated third eyelid are usually signs of conjunctivitis (either bacterial or fungal), or an injury to the eye such as a corneal scratch or ulcer. Bubby will need prescription eye drops to treat this, so I would recommend taking him to the vet for an exam as soon as you are able to. He/she can use a special stain if needed to help determine what is causing the problem and get him started on appropriate medication to treat it. In the meantime, you can try gently rinsing his eye with plain saline eye wash to help clean off some of the discharge. This will not treat the underlying problem, but it may help to make him a bit more comfortable until you are able to see the vet.
