My budgie is sick: tail bobbing, squeaking, gagging. Emergency vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Bird | Unknown - Bird | Female | unspayed

I think my budgie is ill. Her tail is bobbing up and down and her abdomen us moving harder than the other birds in the cage. She is making a squeaking noise when she is perched, as well as a clicking sound and periodic "gagging". Should I be getting her to an emergency vet?

Yes you should take her to the emergencies. Ripple is probably ill, but i couldn't tell you what is wrong based on these very general symptoms, you will need to take her to an avian vet where a blood test and faecal exam will be done to determine what is the cause of the disease before it can be treated.
