Hi there and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to address your concern. If Toodie is still suffering from a respiratory tract infection, I would recommend rechecking with the veterinarian and consider additional testing such as culturing the respiratory tract to see if there is a resistant bacteria. If you want to start an antibiotic, I would recommend starting Doxycycline and if there is no improvement, consult with the veterinarian and have Toodie examined for further recommendations in regards to diagnostics and treatment. I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns and I would be more than happy to help you further.

Hello. Zithromax may be appropriate, but Toodle may not have a bacterial infection, so antibiotics may not be appropriate. She may have a viral infection, or most likely suffer from some type of chronic bronchitis that often responds very well to Doxycycline & steroids. I also would not throw all those cough medicines & antihistamines at her as this can be quite dangerous. Antihistamines can affect blood pressure, & also dry out the mucous membranes so bad as to make her symptoms worse. The honey is fine as it can soothe an irritated throat. I would get her into a hot steamy room & see if this helps after 10 minutes or so 2-3 times a day. Otherwise, please look into some of the payment options such as CareCredit or Scratchpay so you can have your pet seen & properly treated. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
