My dog is pregnant. When is she considered overdue for labor?

My yorkiepoo is pregnant..first time.. dad a chihuahua, scanned for 6 pups, it’s day 64 no signs of labour, thought she would be ea4ly as so many, how many days till it’s considered past normal pregnancy days, been told 70 , but just want second opinion. She is 2 years old, temp is 37.1 this morn but was 38.9 yesterday... but we have had a heat wave in East Sussex.

A dog's pregnancy typically lasts between 58-68 days, so if Molly reaches 69 days of pregnancy with no signs of going into labor, then that isn't normal and she will need to see a vet right away. I hope this helps!

Hi Alan. A dog's pregnancy can last between 58-68 days. If Bella is more than 69 days pregnant, this is not ok and she has to see a vet immediately. I would take her into a vet now to get checked out.

I was wondering what I should expect with her labor and all possible signs she could or could not have? This is her 2nd pregnancy and totally different from her first one completely. I know from the day they tied today is day 59! Please help me figur
Congratulations are in order. It can be a little nerve racking when your pet is expecting puppies. Here are some things to keep in mind. 1) Her rectal temperature will drop below 100 degrees F when she is less than 24 hrs til delivery time, in most situations. 2) Make a nest area for her including blankets or soft bedding. Things you don’t mind getting dirty. 3) Once you see her stomach contact you should see a puppy delivered within 15-30 mins. If she seems to be taking much longer or in distress then she may need a c-section. 4) Black or green discharge is a sign of trouble! Get help immediately from your local vet or ER vet hospital. That is a brief summary of some of the more important things to consider. I think my dog is pregnant, she has put on weight and her tits have gotten bigger. When i rub her belly it feels like pups are in there. When i can feel them how much longer before she gives birth?
You can feel the puppies typically around the 6th week of pregnancy (days 35-42), but she could be further along than that. A dog's typical gestation length is 58-68 days. I would have Chloe seen by a vet to have her pregnancy confirmed, and the vet can do x-rays or an ultrasound to see how far along she is in her pregnancy.

Soska is in the 52 day in pregnancy she is eating well taking her vitamins is there is anything i should do should i visit my vet? And how do i know that she is going to give birth now what are the signs??
Hello, Soska is still approximately 10 days from giving birth. Some dogs will go into labor with very little attention, some will become very needy, will become very restless, whiny, go off their food, vomit & develop diarrhea. If she is perfectly content, there is no need to see your veterinarian now unless you want to know how many puppies she may have. An x-ray will show all the puppies inside her. About 24 hours before labor starts, she may start nesting, looking for a place to have her puppies, & you may notice a mucous discharge from her vulva. It may also be a bit blood tinged. She probably will not eat much either. Just keep a good eye on her & she should do well. Thanks for using Boop by Petco.

My dog is 52 days pregnant she is not eating as much. Is drinking plenty of water and laying around her temp is 99.8. She is losing a tiny bit of mucus plug. Will she have puppies soon?
Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! Just like in humans the loss of the mucous plug is not a reliable way to predict the onset of labor. The rectal temperature usually needs to drop below 99 F. Stage 1 labor should start 10-24 hours after the rectal temperature drops below 99F. That sometimes isn't reliable either. 52 days is soon. Average gestation length is 60-63 days. I think you still have about a week left, give or take a day or 2. Good luck!

My dog is about 51 days pregnant, yesterday she started a brown gooey looking discharge ? What could this mean
It could be normal discharge. I would not be concerned about it if she is still acting normal and eating and drinking ok. We only get alarmed if we see green or black discharge (which could indicate placental rupture). Will an xxxl dog go the full 64days if carrying a large litter?
Dogs have the same gestation period no matter what their size or the litter size. Average is 63-65 days. There is no way to know if she will deliver early, late or on time. You will just need to monitor for signs of impeding delivery as that will give you the best idea as to when to expect the puppies. Hope this helps. Best wishes!

Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! Your Vet is correct! The average length of a canine pregnancy is 60-63 days. We consider dogs overdue if 72 days. If she is acting fine and you are monitoring her temp just continue to watch her. Here are some tips: Stages of Labor: -Stage 1 tends to start 10-24 hours after temperature drop (usually below 99 F). -Stage 1: nesting. Can persist for 3-24 hours before abdominal contractions begin -Stage 2: Visible abdominal contractions. FIRST PUPPY SHOULD ARRIVE WITH IN 1-2 HOURS. -Stage 3: passage of placenta. Usually occurs within 15 mins of passing puppy. If it does not happen, don’t worry. When to worry/Call: -Strong contractions > 45-60 mins without birth of a puppy -Weak and infrequent contractions >4-6 hours without birth of puppy ->4-5 hours between puppies (after birth of first puppy without birth of the next puppy). A dog's pregnancy lasts between 58-68 days, so it is possible she could go into labor anytime after that. I would start taking her temperature rectally twice a day. A dog's normal temperature is between 101-102.5F. Once it drops below 100F, she should give birth to her puppies within 24 hours. Should 24 hours pass after this temperature drop with no sign of puppies or she reaches 69 days of pregnancy without going into labor, she will need to see a vet immediately.
