My pet missed some antibiotic dose. Should I wait for the next one?

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Female | spayed | 9 years and 3 months old | 9 lbs

Hi Dr. Melanie : the syringe with her antibiotic was resisting a bit and I pushed hard and in all squirted out some ended up in her mouth but most on me :/. I'm not sure what to do as I don't don't think she got enough. Is it okay if I just continue with her next dosage in the am ? Thank you for answering all my questions , I really appreciate it :)

Not a problem Laila, I'm glad to help! It's absolutely fine to wait to give her more until when her next dose is due, especially since you aren't sure how much she was given. You don't want to give her too much and risk an overdose. Hopefully next time, the syringe won't get stuck and you can give her all the antibiotic! Have a great night :-)

I accidentally gave Lina her antibiotic 2x a day for 2 days. The pepsid was supposed to be 2x a day and the simplicef 1x a day (300 mg)
That's ok, this happens. Lina should be fine; at most, you may see some stomach upset but this won't cause any serious problems. Just be sure to give it to her once a day from now on. I hope this helps!

My cat is taking clavamox 62.5 mg and Phenoxybenzamine 2.5 mg twice daily, today I can not make it home until 10pm and will miss his 7pm dose do I give it to him this one time late and then back to normal at 7am?
Thanks for using Boop by Petco! This will really depend on the reasons why he is receiving these medications. However, generally as a general rule you would just push it back and medicate when you get home and then change the time he receives those medications to match when it was given today. Good luck!

Vet has prescribed 3 days cetrizine twice daily he had taken 3 tablet and I missed one on second day night so should I increase it to 4 th day of morning
If you missed one dose on the second day, or any doses in the future, never increase the next dose beyond what your vet has indicated on the label. Instead just continue with the next a.m. dosage and so on.

No worries. If you gave this medication 6 hrs ahead of schedule, it is not going to cause any toxicity concerns whatsoever. You can presume her medication tomorrow morning since you already gave her two doses today, just one was a little earlier than recommended. A dog I'm sitting takes 3 12 hour medicines & this morning I forgot to give him his medicine & remembered later at 2pm. When do I give the next dose?
It is best to give the next dose at his regularly scheduled time unless the dose you just gave was very close to it. 8-10 hours apart should be fine to get him back on his regular medical schedule. If he has any issues, or if you are concerned about the meds you are giving, it is best to speak with his treating veterinarian for more information.

Unfortunately, you will have to resolve this with the veterinary clinic. It's possible some of the liquid evaporated. It's possible she was dosed an extra amount by accident. It's also possible the correct amount of liquid was not administered when the medication was reconstituted. It sounds like Hazel did take all the medication however (which is good). I recommend to ask the veterinarian if the extra two days is very important or if a wait and see approach could be ok. You can always start another course of medication if needed. You may also ask about other therapies that could help keep Hazel healthy. We may be able to offer some assistance there is you would like to repost another question. Hello and thank you for reaching out to Pet Coach. All of those medications would be ideal to be given as soon as you can rather then waiting until tonight to "try again". If she was due for all three this morning, I would recommend to try again mid-day. Tramadol can be given every 6-8hours to make her comfortable so try to get that into her as soon as you can. Prednisone and clavamox should be given with food or directly after a meal. I would recommend to feed her some lunch and then try to give those meds again after the meal. Maybe with a treat, cheese, pill pocket. If you are able to get either one of those meds into her this afternoon, then skip the evening dose and resume in early morning. The sooner the better.
