Spayed dog humps and has prominent nipples. Is this normal?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | unspayed | 4 years and 3 months old | 45 lbs

Hello Petco Pet Education Center, I hope a is well. So, my dog got spayed last month on the 3rd and healed well. However, she still tries to hump my leg, back, and arm (sorry for that lol) and people have asked me if she's pregnant because of her nipples. Is this normal?

The humping of the leg is a behavioral issue, this behavior can sometimes be affected by being spayed in females, but not always. as she is already 4 years old, the nipples are likely to stay prominent, maybe the size will reduce slightly with time but it may also remain the same as it is today.
