My cat has a wound with pus and is losing fur. Does she need a vet?

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 6 lbs

Today we noticed female cat(1 year old ish) has a (almost round) wound under her arm. It has some puss forming. Also noticed small patches of fur missing in random places on her body.

Poor LeeLou! I'm wondering if she's allowed to be outside, and if she is, it could be that she go into a fight with another animal. If she has a wound with pus in it, then it's infected and she has to see a vet for antibiotics. I would call your vet now to make an appointment to have her seen by a vet to get this wound examined and treated. Best of luck, I hope this helps!

Ouch, poor Midnight! This wound could be from a bite from another animal or she could have injured herself. If there is pus present, then it is infected. She will need to see a vet to have it treated. For tonight, gently wash the area with warm water and antiseptic soap, then have her seen by a vet in the morning to get antibiotics to treat the infection. Good luck, I hope this helps!

Hi there. Mush needs to see a vet. This wound looks like an abscess that ruptured open. We don't have Ketomycine in the US so I'm guessing you are in another country? That is a topical antibiotic and it is not the best one for this type of wound. She will need systemic antibiotics and anti-inflammatories/pain medication to get this to clear up. This looks very painful so please get her treatment by a veterinarian as soon as possible. This is not likely something you can treat effectively at home. Best wishes.

My cat has wound on her right leg most likely from a fight with another cat. It seems like there is two small holes and a lot of fur missing. How can I treat it? Is it imperative to see a vet?
Unfortunately cat bite wounds can become infected very quickly and often there is further damage under the skin that isn't apparent from the outside. For those reasons I recommend your cat get checked out by a veterinarian as early treatment can prevent future complications such as muscle infection. In the meantime keep the area clean and dry and keep your cat indoors. Do not give any human medications as they can be toxic to cats.?

Yes. I would recommend to take her to the vet. The doctor will likely put her on antibiotics to try to clean up the infection. You also need to make sure that she is not licking at the area as this can make it worse. She should wear an Elizabethan collar at all times and be kept indoors completely until the wound is completely healed. My cat had a spit of missing fun with a small scab. It seems to have ruptured and is bleeding and oozing. It’s not super deep but it looks like a chunk of flesh is missing. We washed and put hydrogen peroxide on it. What else should I do?
It's possible that this is an abscess or other wound. Sometimes these just need to drain and be clean to heal, and other times surgery to place a drain and give antibiotics is needed. I would recommend watching the area closely over the next 24-36 hours and taking Louie to the vet if there is any discharge from the wound, redness, swelling, or it's increasing in size.

The wound looks badly infected, the fur around the wound needs to be clipped and the wound needs to be cleaned, he will need to receive an antibiotic injection, you will need to take him to the vet in order to get proper treatment.

This wound requires immediate veterinary care as it needs to be surgically cleaned and treated with antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medications. A stitch up may be required. Please take Fur to your vet asap.

My cat has had this wound I noticed it last night and I don't know if my cat needs to go to the vet or not I'm starting to really worry about her and think she will need a vet to help is there anything I can do in the mean time to help her
I think you're definitely on the right track with planning a vet visit. If have her seen to make sure the wound doesn't need surgical attention and medications to encourage healing. Wounds can often have a lot of depth around them called "dead space". As the wounds try to heal that area can fill up with inflammatory fluid and eventually turn to pus, causing infection. In the mean time, you can always find a baby onesie or even a tiny dog T shirt for her to wear if it will cover the wound until you have her seen. It may help keep her from licking the area excessively, which can cause additional trauma, inflammation, and infection. Or you can order a soft cone on amazon or pick one up at your local pet store to prevent the self trauma. Good Luck!

Hi , my pet cat suddenly lost hair in its back and that area of skin has become red and it's limping a bit on the hind legs due to this. Due to covid lockdown am not able to take it to a vet doctor. Please help.
Poor kitty. This looks like a really bad skin infection and could be due to an underlying flea allergy. Luckily veterinary hospitals are considered an essential business, so most are open even with the lockdown keeping other things closed. Your cat needs to see a vet to get this taken care of and also figure out what is causing him to limp? He will need at the very least antibiotics to help clear up this skin infection.
