Pet's info: Dog | Jack Russell Terrier | Female | unspayed | 11 months and 22 days old | 5 lbs
We recently went to the vet at the end of May because my puppy was scratching a lot and we got medication to control it. The vet noticed she was in heat still. Now its 18 days later and we're wondering what is going on with her breast. They look a little enlarged she seems to be biting one nipple a lot. Could it be pseudopregnancy? She is about to 1 year old on the 27th of April.

Yes if she didn’t get bred she could be having a false pregnancy. If you don’t plan to breed her I do recommend having her spayed. Dogs that have irregular heat cycles and false pregnancies can get uterine infections that can be very serious and need emergency treatment and spaying. Also the constant hormonal ups and downs make dogs moody and may be a factor in developing breast cancer sometimes later in life. A false pregnancy can last the nine weeks of a normal pregnancy then she should get over it a week or two after that.
