I would recommend reposting your question with a picture of Murphy's skin so that we can get a thorough evaluation of what may be going on here. However, from what you have described, it sounds like Muprhy may have some skin allergies and possibly a secondary bacterial infection going on. This is treated with allergy medicine through your vet, because over the counter anithistamines are not as effective in dogs as they are in people. A medicated shampoo may also be needed to help resolve Murphy's skin problems. I still encourage you to repost your question with a picture so that we can confirm our suspicions of a skin allergy. If the medications you used don't help within 24 hours, I recommend seeing a vet for oral antibiotics. Also, if that's his neck make sure to clean his collar too. Good luck and kisses to Murphy!

Hello. We will often see some subtle indications of a bacterial infection under the hair, especially after long or thick hair has been shaved off. You can bathe Bruce in any OTC antibacterial shampoo ( either with benzyl peroxide or chlorhexidine ) twice a week for 2-3 weeks & this should take care of the problem. New Pet

My pup has these weird scabs all around him, I was brushing them and found a bunch of small ones on the inside of his hind legs and one big long one at the base of his neck...any idea what it is?

It looks like Murphy has collarettes that are typical of pyoderma, a fairly common bacteria skin infection. I recommend scheduling an appointment with your veterinarian for an examination. If it is confirmed to be bacterial, your vet will likely prescribe an antibiotic such as Simplicef along with a probiotic to prevent diarrhea from the antibiotic course, +/- a medicated shampoo such as Malaseb every other day for two weeks. It looks like she could have a skin infection. You could bathe her with a medicated dog shampoo and see if that helps. Otherwise, she should be examined by a vet for treatment. Your vet can do a skin scrape, cytology, and/or culture, if needed, to help diagnose. She may need an antibiotic, corticosteroid, and other medications to treat the problem.

Hi there my lab/shepherd mix boy who is 9 years old who lives with my mother had started to lose his hair and has bumps growing everywhere see in the pictures.

Scrappy needs to go to your veterinarian for an exam and skin scraping to determine the cause of this skin condition. It looks like a bacterial infection but he also could have mites, a fungal infection or it could be an autoimmune disease or tumors. If it's a severe bacterial infection with antibiotics and medicated baths this should improve. The longer he has these lesions the more likely the skin can become damaged and his fur may not grow back in. In addition to the skin scraping they may recommend a thyroid level test and perhaps a blood panel to check for other underlying disease. This could be a fungal or bacterial skin infection and if she was only put on antibiotics and this is a fungal infection, it will not respond. This could also be an immune mediated condition that needs drugs to suppress the immune system in order to be treated. It looks like he has a bacterial skin infection which could be secondary to allergies. You could bathe him with a medicated dog shampoo, like Epi-Soothe, and see if that helps but he probably needs an antibiotic, anti-histamine, and a corticosteroid to help treat the condition so he should be examined by your vet for treatment.
