Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Golden Retriever | Male | unneutered | 2 months and 16 days old | 6 lbs

My puppy has had it’s first vaccine, And he bit me today. The pictures are attached. He behaves normally and he bit me while playing. Also sometimes he gets aggressive (maybe) at night and bites his toys furiously. Do i need vaccines?

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! If Austin has had his rabies vaccine you should be fine. But you should contact your local health department and talk to a human physician. If Austin has Rabies in the transmissible form (in the salivary glands) then he will show neurologic signs for rabies with in 10 days. Keep him quarantined for 10 days. If he dies from any cause he should be tested for Rabies if it is before the 10 days quarantine. Always keep your pets up to date on rabies and prevent them interacting with wild life and unvaccinated pets. I wish you the best!

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! If Austin hasn't been bitten by unvaccinated or wild animals then you are likely fine. I would highly recommend contacting your countries health department and a human doctor to be sure. If Austin had rabies in the transmissible form he would show signs in 10 days and then you would immediately need treatment. Be sure to get him rabies vaccinated as soon as he is old enough. If he is normal in 10 days then he couldn't have given you rabies. I wish you and Austin the best!
