My cat is lethargic, vomiting, and has diarrhea. Should I see a vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 1 year and 8 months old | 13.4 lbs

Binx started acting very lethargic after I cut his nails Sunday night-I double checked and I didn’t get any quicks- and threw up his dinner around 8 last night. He threw up water and some hair this afternoon and is still acting lethargic and had very watery diarrhea very quickly after eating today around 5. Is this a vet visit? He usually has dry food available all the time, should I take this away? Poor buddy isn’t acting himself, I’m starting to get worried! Thanks so much

Poor Binx! Yes, this is a vet visit when a cat is both vomiting and having diarrhea as well as being very lethargic. I'm concerning he's throwing up water as well, and that can quickly lead to dehydration. Given how suddenly he's become sick and his combination of symptoms, I recommend taking him into a vet right away. Best of luck, I hope this helps!
