Poor Sasquatch (I love his name!). I see what you mean about his very swollen eyes. There could be a couple of reasons why they are swollen. He could be having an allergic reaction to something outside, he could have injured his eyes, or he may have an eye infection. Given how suddenly it came on and how swollen they are,I would give your vet a call now to see if they can get him in for an appointment today. When eye problems come on suddenly, I always advise an immediate vet visit because of the delicate nature of the eye and it's important. Just in case there is something his eyes, you can try gently flushing them with some sterile saline, but definitely get him into a vet. Best of luck, I hope this helps!

This appears to be conjunctivitis. I do not see any problems within the eye, but I would have to examine it closer to be sure. It's also possible that this is an infection within the eye that is causing inflammation. Conjunctivitis can be caused by a few different infections, or dust and debris in the eye. It's not an emergency, but I recommend taking River to the vet sometime in the next day or two. They will be able to better inspect the eye and provide the most appropriate treatment. For now, you can flush the eye 3-4 times a day with saline to help clean and soothe it. Below is a link to a good video that demonstrates how to do this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_lXVNMcPzhs I hope that helps and River gets better soon.

I am so sorry your pet Warrior has what sounds like an eye infection and possible conjunctivitis. This usually only responds to prescription eye ointment from the vet. Here is a website link that will hopefully help you afford to get him in and be seen. http://m.humanesociety.org/animals/resources/tips/trouble_affording_veterinary_care.html In the meantime I would recommend just wiping the discharge with an over the counter eye wash for now. You can also continue the Benadryl in case this is an allergic reaction that then lead to a secodary infection. But chances are he has a corneal scratch or ulcer that is unrelated to his vaccines. You also may be able to find a low cost clinic in your area. Try to get him seen soon before this gets an worse. Best wishes and take care.

It looks like the conjunctiva is swollen and irritated. You can try some beandryl twice a day as well as some artificial tear drops to help flush the eye. If it isn't improving within 24 hours or if he is messing with it or squinting, I would have have your vet take a look at it. Your vet will be able to pull the lids back and get a better look at it and also make sure there isn't a scratch or ulcer on the eye. Your vet will be able to prescribe him the appropriate meds and eye meds to help him feel better. I hope this helps! https://www.petcoach.co/canigive/dog/benadryl/
