My dog cries when pooping. Could it be anal gland pain or impaction?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | unneutered | 3 years and 2 months old | 55 lbs

Ok so I think it's a gland it's at the top of savage tail like on his body more then the tail. It's like located where the tail and leg meets? The pic I sent it's smae as right red dot but right next to his tail just used the bathroom and there no worms or nothing bad in his poop. He cried the hole time he pooped. Now I read u can give dogs amoxicillin but either 5 or 10mg. I have a 500mg could I split it and give it to him till I get him to vet. And if I can how would I split it to make a 10m

I see you are talking about Savage's anal sacs, and those can become impacted as well as infected. He does need to see a vet for this problem since he is crying when he poops, but I cannot advise you or tell you how to give him amoxicillin, that is illegal for me to do so. That's because doing so requires a veterinary client patient relationship which cannot be achieved via an internet forum. In addition, the experts cannot say for certain if a specific drug is safe or even the right drug for him. He may simply need his anal sacs expressed, and the antibiotics may not be warranted at all. Only the vet who sees him can make this determination. I would call your vet today to get an appointment for him. Best of luck!
