Why is my dog licking, swallowing, anxious, and not eating suddenly?

Pet's info: Dog | Shih Tzu | Male | neutered | 1 year and 3 months old | 15 lbs

My dog was sleeping at night. He woke up to go poty after coming inside he started to move everywhere swallowing and licking. I thought something was stuck in his mouth. I cant see anything in his throat or roof of his mouth. Today he is sleeping and he does the same thing occasionally he seems anxious too. He doesnt want eat what could it be thanks

He may have picked up something like a toad or insect that tastes bad and gotten a toxin in his mouth causing the behavior you are describing. Make sure he’s drinking water as that will rinse out the mouth. If he won’t drink that try chicken broth. If he continues not to eat then I’m concerned and recommend a veterinary exam.
