My older cat was near URI kittens. Will he get sick?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 1 year and 11 months old | 15.9 lbs

I have 2 kittens with URI and they have been on clavamox for 7 days, my older cat got into the 'sick room' while I was gone for about 15 min, I got him into a warm bath to clean him up. I don't think he touched the kittens, just their toys and maybe some of their food. Will he be OK or should I take him to the vet?

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Jack. I would monitor for now as long as he is eating and drinking and acting like himself. If he starts to display symptoms for an upper respiratory tract infection, then he will need to see his veterinarian. Being older, he has a fully developed immune system and has a better chance of not acquiring the infection. Still watch home closely though. I hope this information helps!
