Why is my dog shivering and her stomach making gurgling sounds?

Poor Bella. She sounds very uncomfortable and although the signs are quite vague it is possible she has severe nausea and possibly a fever. I would recommend a full vet check to rule out an intestinal obstruction or pancreatitis given the degree of pain and wincing

Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! Poor Bobo! He is so cute in his bed! It sounds like Bobo is experiencing periodic stomach pains. The noises you hear is likely gas moving through his intestines. Gas can be painful. When dogs are in pain they shake, don't want to move and whimper. Possible causes are: viral or bacterial infection, reaction to a new food/treat/table food, pancreatitis, inflammatory bowel disease, kidney or liver problems, food allergy or intolerance or cancer. Since Bobo is older I do recommend having him seen Monday when your Vet opens for blood work and belly X-rays. In the mean time I would start a bland diet of boiled chicken or hamburger with rice. Feed 1 cup per 20 lbs per day as small frequent meals. I wish you and Bobo the best!

Thanks for using Boop by Petco! I am so sorry to hear about little Sophia. I am worried in this case about pain- back pain specifically. Her breed and what you describe are very typical of this. But other things such as infection or orgsn disease are possible. Yes, please take her in right away. This sounds like she is in a lot of pain. Dogs pant a lot and tremble when they are in pain. Since she’s not spayed she could have a uterine infection that can become life threatening, or many small dogs get intervertebral disc disease which can cause the symptoms you are seeing. They will need to do an exam and possibly lab tests or X-rays to get a diagnosis, then they can give pain medication and the appropriate treatment. Is your dog acting sick or nauseated in any way? Like refusing to eat, drooling excessively or trying to eat grass? If not, then I would not be too concerned. Diarrhea and inappetence are quite aspecific signs and there are many different causes. Dietary indiscretion, infections (bacterial, viral or parasitic), inflammatory conditions (i.e. IBD), and neoplastic diseases are some of the possible causes. Sometimes an upset tummy can be mildly painful especially if you hear, as you reported, some "gurglings" and could explain the inappetence. I would avoid ham if possible and start Nickolas on a bland diet (boiled chicken and rice). If his diarrhea is still present in 12-24 hours or he starts vomiting or getting lethargic I would have Nickolas checked by your veterinarian.
