Hi, My cat has been eating Royal Canin Instinctive adult gravy wet food for about 3 months but the last two days whenever he's had it he ends up vomiting it after an hour. This has never happened before and he's not vomiting his other food he eats. Should I continue feeding him Royal Canin wet food since it was vet suggested before and what can i give him so his stomach doesnt get upset . please help

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Muffy! Royal Canine is a great food but it doesn't mean it is perfect for every pet! Hill's Science Diet and Purina are also good food. I would try a sensitive stomach formula in Royal Canin first then switch brands. Be sure to keep in mind that a food allergy is just once cause of vomiting. Other causes are: intestinal parasites, viral or bacterial infections, hair balls, foreign body, dietary indiscretion, pancreatitis, toxin ingestion or inflammatory bowel disease. I wish you and Muffy the best!

Hi and thank you for your post on Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Vomiting can be caused by bacterial overload in the food (food poisoning), but vomiting also has other causes such as gastritis, viral infections, foreign body or GI obstruction, pancreatitis, organ dysfunction, food allergies, etc. If the food was a new pack and was sterilized, it is unlikely the vomiting is caused by the food. I would hold off on feeding her for the remainder of the day (she can have water). She can resume eating her royal canin food tomorrow. If she continues to vomit today or worsens in any way or if she vomits again after you resume feeding tomorrow, I would have Vlooi seen by her veterinarian to rule out other more concerning causes of vomiting. I hope this helps and I hope Vlooi feels better soon!
