Pet's info: Dog | Golden Retriever | Male | neutered | 3 months and 1 day old
These past few days I've noticed a foul smell coming from Jasper. Eventually I figured out it was coming from his penis. I can smell it when I'm holding him, and even right now when he's in his kennel on his back. He was bathed just a few days ago, and he has no trouble peeing. We take him to the vet on Wednesday for his needles anyways, but is there anything I should do until then? Any ideas on what it could be?

It sounds like he might have an infection. Your vet can examine him and prescribe an antibiotic, if needed. If you see any discharge then you could clean it with a DOUXO® Chlorhexidine Pads and see if that helps. Otherwise, see if your vet can see him before Wednesday so treatment can be started.

The discharge from the penis may just be because he isn’t feeling well and not grooming himself as well as he usually does. Male dogs usually have a small amount of yellowish discharge that they usually clean up themselves. The not eating is what worries me most. I would encourage you to take him back for a follow up appointment. I start to worry about things like a Viral infection, oral pain, or many other problems as puppies usually eat well. They may recommend blood work to help determine the diagnosis. Best of luck and I hope he improves soon. Thank you for using Pet Coach.
