Why are there black specks on my 12-week-old puppy's ear flap?

My 12 week old puppy has some black specks in and on the flap of his ear, what is it? Also he gets his second set of shots on Sunday will that make a difference of help?

It's difficult to tell from the pictures but these specks appear to be in the hair rather than on the skin of the ear. My biggest suspicion is that they are potentially fleas and/or flea dirt. If he is going to the vet for shots, then they can have a good look and help you identify the cause of this. The vaccines would not help this, but can likely still be given.
