Why is my active cat suddenly sleeping, not eating, not purring?

Hi there my cat approx 8 months Is always full of life always hungry usually eats alot very active an Happy, past 3 days he's just been sleeping he won't eat anything and he isn't even purring anymore it's starting to concern me as this is seriously odd behavior

Lethargy and anorexia can be a common sign of many illnesses including systemic illness, infection, inflammation, or injury. Its very concerning that he hasn't eaten for three days, as when a cat doesn't eat for over 72 hours, they develop a fatty liver which is fatal without treatment. Based on this, I am recommending you take him into a vet right away. Without treatment, he could develop a fatty liver, and it's serious he's had three days without eating. Please call a vet now to get him in to be seen asap. Best of luck.

Your cat sounds very ill! It's quite serious when a cat doesn't eat for more than three days, as it makes them prone to developing a fatty liver. It sounds like Kitty is sick if she rarely eats. It's quite serious when a cat barely eats, as they can develop a fatty liver which is fatal without treatment. Unfortunately, anorexia and lethargy are very general signs of illness, and can be caused by systemic illness, infection, inflammation, or injury. I would have her seen by a vet right away for a physical exam, blood tests, and urinalysis to diagnose what is causing her symptoms so she can be treated.

It sound like your cat isn't feeling well. Anorexia (not eating) and lethargy are symptoms of many different illnesses, so without more symptoms, I can't pin down what might be causing her to act this way. I can say that any sudden change in behavior from the normal should be investigated your vet because there might be a medical cause behind it. In this case, I think it would be a good idea for your cat to see a vet, and I recommend taking her into your vet's normal business hours for a health check. Your vet would be best to determine if there is a medical illness, and how best to treat it.

It sounds like Akira may be sick, and it is very serious when a cat won't eat. If they go long enough without eating (around 72 hours), they will develop a fatty liver. A fatty liver is fatal without treatment, so you want to avoid this. Have her seen by a vet first thing in the morning.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Cuty. He sounds very sick based on your description. I recommend that he sees a veterinarian if at all possible. Cats can actually develop severe liver disease if they go too long without eating. He will be examined. If he has a source of pain, this can affect appetite. An internal problem such as kidney disease or pancreatitis can make a cat less likely to eat as well. He may require laboratory work to diagnose his problem. From there, treatment can be started. In the meantime, try to syringe him small amounts of water to keep him hydrated. I hope this information helps!

Poor Fatty! It could be a respiratory infection, but he could have something else causing his anorexia and lethargy such as a systemic illness, infection, inflammation, or injury. It is concerning when a cat isn't eating, as if they don't eat for going on three days, they become prone to a fatty liver. A fatty liver is fatal without treatment, so it's best to avoid that from occurring. I would have Fatty seen by a vet today who can diagnose what is causing his symptoms so he can be treated.

Cats tend to deteriorate quickly, so I would recommend a veterinary visit. Starting with blood work which will include a cell count, an evaluation of organ function and a thyroid evaluation should help your veterinarian to find what the source is. Cats can develop Hepatic Lipidosis or a fatty liver after a few days of not eating, and this can be difficult to reverse. I would bring him in today if possible.

Poor Katrina! Unfortunately, these are very vague symptoms that could be caused by almost any kind of illness, so it's hard to say what might be wrong without being able to examine her and run some tests. She may have a systemic illness like liver or kidney disease, some type of infectious disease like FIP (feline infectious peritonitis), or even cancer. Not eating for more than 24 hours in cats always warrants a vet visit, because they can develop a serious liver problem called hepatic lipidosis when they don't eat, in addition to whatever illness is causing the inappetance in the first place. So, I would definitely recommend taking Katrina to the vet today for an exam. He/she can do blood work or other testing if needed to help diagnose the problem and get her started on appropriate treatment.

It sounds like poor Samba isn't feeling well, and he has to see a vet immediately. When a cat doesn't eat going on 72 hours, they develop a fatty liver which is fatal without treatment. This absolutely needs to be avoided, which is why he has to see a vet right away. Anorexia is a very general sign of illness, and it could be caused by many things such as dental problems, GI obstruction, systemic illness, kidney disease, heart disease, liver disease, infection, injury, or cancer for example. Matou hasn’t eaten since 2 days and is weak to. All he does is to lie down all day .
Poor Matou! There are so many things that can cause a decreased appetite and weakness like certain viral infections, respiratory infections, bladder infections, kidney or liver disease, cancer and much more. If cats go a few days without eating, they can actually get worse because their liver will start to shut down and they get really dehydrated. Since it has alresdy been two days, i would strongly recommend to have your vet take a look at him. Your vet will be able to do a fecal, blood work and even X-rays if needed. Your vet will be able to get him on the proper meds and give him fluids if needed to help him feel better. You can try to entice him to eat with just plain chicken or tuna or different type of canned cat food. I hope this helps and he starts to feel better soon.
