My 7-week-old kittens have swollen eyes and head lumps. What to do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 1 month and 9 days old | 1lb

I took in two kittens last night, I think they are about 7 weeks old. Siblings, can't determine sex. They have swollen eyes with mucus/crust around them, which I've been wiping with a warm wash cloth and it seems to be helping. They are also inbred, the mother was impregnated by her son. They seem to have bone-like lumps on their heads.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding your new kittens. I would recommend that they see a veterinarian as they are due for their first set of kitten vaccines. They may have an upper respiratory tract or just an eye infection. You can ask about the bumps on their heads at this time to see if it is anything to be concerned about or not. In the meantime, continue keeping their eyes clean. I hope this information helps!
