My stray dog ate curd, now coughing and not eating. What to do?

There is a street dog near my home and I gave him cold curd after that he is coughing and not eating anything what should I dog?? ??

I would call a local animal rescue to come and get Sharluk if you don't want to assume financial responsibility for him. It sounds like he needs veterinary care, and he should get that sooner rather than later. If you are willing to pay for his care, then I would take him into a vet right away. In the future, do not give him curd. It's not an acceptable diet for a dog, as it contains dairy which should not be given to dogs because it causes GI upset. Best of luck!

Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! Poor Chutki! Curd is not appropriate nutrition for animals. They need to be on a commercial dog or puppy food if over 5 weeks of age, Under 5 weeks they should be fed a puppy formula. Regardless the curd should not be causing coughing. Curd can cause vomiting and diarrhea though. If dogs cough hard enough they can stimulate their gag reflex and end the cough in a gag or vomit. I would worry about the breathing with the cough. Causes could be kennel cough or pneumonia. I would have her examine by a Vet and consider having X-rays of her lungs. I wish you both the best!

Any balanced dog food is fine at this point. Foods like you mentioned are safe short-term, but they are not a balanced diet with things like fiber, vitamins, and minerals. Some dogs will have an intolerance to milk-products, and if that is the case for Chutki, then I would avoid those. The coughing should be evaluated by a vet to determine the cause and start treatment. X-rays of the chest may be indicated. Somtimes the vomiting can be treated by appropriately treating the cough. Other times an anti-nausea medicine is needed.

He is probably suffering from a condition called kennel cough, it's quite common in rescues, the lack of appetite could be due to the disease or due to the change of environment, the diarrhea is probably not related to the infection i mentioned before. i would recommend taking him to the vet tomorrow for a full checkup, he might need some medications to treat his problems.

My 3 year old dog is coughing, shaking, and doesn't have much of an appetite. I just adopted him about 10 days ago. Him not eating or drinking much is really worrying me. What could be wrong?
This sign could be compatible with an upper respiratory tract inflammation/infection or more specifically to a tracheitis (inflammatory, allergic, infective). Given the systemic signs fever may be present. A clinical examination at your local veterinarian is essential to confirm these clinical suspicions and treat appropriately. Antibiotics may be needed. My dog takes long breath and didn't want to take food, vomiting also happened sometimes. What are the cause and its cure?
It sounds as Sheru is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking him to the vet the first chance you get, he will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection he will need an anti vomiting injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better.

Hi, is Dudley up to date with his vaccinations ? One of the causes of intense coughing is kennel cough and it would also cause retching too. It is difficult to diagnose without a full clinical history and examination. You can try to offer small amounts of food little and often such as warmed up dog meat for example .It would be advisable to have him checked over to see if Dudley is also running a temperature or if the cough is originating from the chest rather than the upper airways.

How to give medicine to the stray dog who has cough? Should i grind the medicine and mix with boiled rice and give him? Will grinding work or help him? I am also attaching his photo please see and tell me is he underweight or anaemic or thin skinny?
Hello. Medications can be hidden in meat, cheese, pill pockets, even marshmallows, but I strongly do not recommend giving any medication to an unknown dog in an unknown condition & without knowing how that antibiotic may adversely affect the dog. Hello. At this age, Shortie needs a good workup by your veterinarian. A cough can be from many causes including inflammation, bronchitis, pneumonia, tumors & heart disease. No appetite can also result from the above, but also from oral infections, liver, kidney or other endocrine diseases. So in order to help him, you need to know what is or is not going on with him. Bruno was ok till 10pm he had his dinner royal cabin food and after half n hr he had curd and 4 piece of unboiled cauliflower for first time and curd he take since long time but not daily so later in mid night I woke up and found he did potty in bath
The curd likely didn't agree with his stomach. Poor Bruno. I would not feed him this again, as it has no nutritional value for your pet. Most dogs are lactose intolerant. His body just basically rejected this altogether. But it is good that he is feeling better now. Continue to feed him just his dog food kibble only. I would also keep out the cauliflower for now, until you are sure he is ok. You can try the Cauliflower at a later date if you desire. Hopefully Bruno continues to get better. If he still has upset stomach issues, then consider giving him a bland diet of boiled plain chicken and rice or cottage cheese for a few days. Take care.

Most of these episodes are dietary related and completely self limited. As a first approach I would suggest to withhold food for the next 8-12 hours and then start feeding with a bland diet based on boiled chicken and rice in small portion every 6 hours for the following 48hours. Then gradually reintroduce the normal diet over 5 days. I would definitively recommend a veterinary check up if the signs persist or you notice diarrhoea, more vomiting, lethargy or inappetence.
