My dog has severe allergies, scratching, red eyes, and can't sleep. Why?

Pet's info: Dog | Pug | Female | unspayed | 1 year and 9 months old | 18 lbs

Hi my dog has allergies (rubbing eyes, red eyes, very blocked nose and scratching). It's so bad she can't sleep as her nose is so blocked. I have now started getting tiny bites on my arm and a rash. It feels like something's crawling on me but I can't see it. I'm guessing our allergies are related. I've attached pics of my arms, could you tell me what you think this is?? Please help this has been going on for over a year and Layla is really suffering. Citrizine doesn't help her either. Thank u.

Unfortunately I cannot answer your question as personal medical advices on yourself should be ideally given by your local GP. They might be due to flea bites or acute skin allergy. Regarding Layla: this is probably due to an allergy, although it could also be infection or mites, especially if no medications are working. First of all, in order to rule out skin parasites, you will need to treat with a high quality flea treatment, then ask the vet to perform a skin scrape - this might reveal an infection or a mite infestation. If all of those came back negative, the next step is to treat the allergy symptomatically and try to discover the cause of the allergy. Three main type of allergies are usually affecting pets: food allergies, flea and parasite related ones and environmental type (allergens coming from trees, pollens, dust etc etc). Some medications can be given by the vet in order to repair any possible skin lesions (like steroids and antibiotics). Hope this answer was helpful, but please do not hesitate to contact us again on the forum or by requesting a consultation if you have any more questions or to discuss it any further.
