Pet's info: Cat | Burmese | Male | neutered
My cat is a little over 7 years old and is HIV positive. in the last few months that he has lost a lot of weight and has been balding in some spots. Vet suggested it could be an overactive thyroid. blood test results came back negative and they are now thinking it could be a tumour. He is still grazing all day long. Is there any other way to determine if he has a tumour without getting an ultra sound? I am only 18 and it is going to cost me over $500 for this. Thank you! I want him to get better

I'm sorry Baxter isn't doing well at the moment! Unfortunately evidence of tumors do not always show up on blood work, and the next step is imaging such as x-rays or an ultrasound. Sometimes the tumor has to be visualized with these methods in order to reach a diagnosis. Given that it sounds like your vet has recommended this as the next step, I would follow that recommendation. I hope this helps!
