Yes, dogs can get symptoms of kennel cough after getting the vaccine, but they are usually mild. If it's related to the vaccine, you typically see symptoms two to five days after receiving the vaccine, and the symptoms can last up until a week. I hope this helps!

She can still get Kennel cough even with this vaccine although it does usually reduce the chances of getting it and when a dog is vaccinated but still catches the disease, it is usually milder as well. this disease usually resolves without treatment within a couple weeks but if the cough is too severe it is recommended to go to the vet in order to get cough medicine and antibiotics.

My 13 week old puppy has just had her 2nd lot of vaccines and kennel cough vaccine , it's been a few days since then and she's experiencing coughing/wheezing just wondering if this is normal?
It is normal for a puppy to see mild signs of the kennel cough disease after receiving the vaccine, and I would monitor Ruby for now. Generally, these symptoms are self limiting, and should disappear in a few days. If she does develop a thick yellow/green discharge from her nose, or she hasn't improved in 72 hours, I would take her into the vet.

If my puppy has gotten the vaccine for Kennel Cough (Bordatella), and contracts said Kennel Cough from the "live vaccine", how long would it take for her to A. Contract it, and B. Go away/symptoms subside, after being treated (post-vaccine)?
The Bordatella vaccine is what we call "modified live" . This means that the actual virus is altered slightly to make it non-infectious, but still recognizable and stimulating to the immune system. If your dog is coughing, my suspicion is she contracted it based on exposure pre-vaccine. Generally this virus will run its' course within a month, but antibiotics can help prevent any secondary bacterial infections. A cough suppressant can also help keep her more comfortable.

Rare side effects include an allergic reaction to the vaccine. The reaction can happen within minutes or hours of the vaccination and could include vomiting, diarrhea, difficulty breathing and possible collapse. The face or body can swell, and hives may develop. The dog may crawl into a corner and hide. He may not want to move even with gentle coaxing. Call the vet if your dog experiences these side effects. The vet can treat the symptoms.

I generally recommend waiting about 2 weeks after recovery from kennel cough to give a dose of the kennel cough vaccine. As long as your vet feels that Dallas has a clean bill of health, it should be perfectly fine for him to get the vaccine anytime now. I'm glad to hear that he's made a full recovery and is doing well!

She is so cute! I am sorry to hear she has been coughing. That kind of cough you are describing makes me suspicious of kennel cough (even with the vaccine), although it is not the only cause. If she seems to have good energy and is otherwise normal you can give it some time to see if it resolves on its own, but if she seems to feel poorly or it is bothering her it would be safer to call your vet and discuss an appointment. The kennel cough vaccine can cause minor irritation to the sinuses which can result in some sneezing or snorting. This can also be from allergies or an infection starting. You can give honey if you wish to try and soothe your dog's throat if he has kennel cough - it can sometimes help a little, and won't hurt anything. Normally, kennel cough causes relatively mild symptoms and resolves on its own within a week or two, but in rare cases it can progress to pneumonia or other serious problems. If your dog is not eating, acting lethargic, or coughing so much that he has trouble resting or sleeping, then I would recommend having him examined by a vet - he may need antibiotics and prescription cough suppressants to help resolve the infection more quickly and make him more comfortable.
