My senior cat has scabs, fleas, losing weight; can't afford vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed

Hi, Our cat is around 12/13. She's got like little scabs all over. She's always had a flea problem. We've always had her treated regularly at the vets and bought treatments from the supermarket, but she's looking quite thin, frail and scraggy now, although she's eating a lot and has got a good appetite and we've used a dry shampoo on her. We can't afford another vets consultation at the moment, as we have no money. Please could you help? We're badly in need. Many thanks. Simon

Hi Simon. Joss does look really bad off, and she does need to see a vet. If paying for a vet is an issue, you can see if your vet accepts payment plans, if there is a low cost clinic in your area, or you can apply for Carefree Credit online. http://www.carefreecredit.co.uk https://www.rspca.org.uk/whatwedo/vetcare http://www.easipetcare.com
