My dog has green eye discharge. What does it mean if she's fine?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Beagle | Female | spayed | 3 years and 4 months old | 30 lbs

My Beagle recently has started getting green eye boogers/discharge coming out of her left eye. I noticed this on Friday. She is acting completely normal & it doesn’t seem to be bothering her. I’m using a warm rag to wipe the booger’s & lightly compress it against the eye to loosen whatever is in there. Her vet can’t see her until the 16th, should I take her elsewhere sooner? What could this be from?

It could be that Belle has an eye infection. Any eye problem needs to be checked out promptly by a vet, as leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. Yes, I would see if you can get her into another vet sooner.
