Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 50 lbs
My dog has a soft warm lump on the side of her neck that grew rapidly. It has a bluish hue to it and doesn’t seem to cause discomfort or pain. I am making an appointment for the vet, but want to know what this could be? I like going in educated bc I have had negative experiences with vets over the years. Thank you.

Any lumps/bumps that you notice on your dog should be checked out by your vet so I am glad you are taking her for an appointment. Unfortunately, we cannot tell you exactly what it is just by looking at the photos. Looking at it, feeling it and looking for other concurrent issues are all part of the exam that helps us to determine what it is. A fine needle aspirate will likely be needed to get a diagnosis. ( https://vcahospitals.com/know-your-pet/cytology-fine-needle-aspiration-fna ) To put it simply, lumps are usually one of these three things: * abscess (infection) * cyst * cancer/tumor (may be benign or malignant) There are other possibilities as well but those are the most common.
