Pet's info: Dog | Siberian Husky | Female | unspayed
Hello! My dog had a fever on Tuesday night and we took her to the vet on Wednesday. The vet gave her a shot of antibiotics and an anti fever shot both on Wednesday and Thursday and her fever was gone by the afternoon on Thursday. Since yesterday she started to drink a lot more water, especially at night, and I had to take her out to pee even in the middle of the night. Other than that, she acts the same as usual, she’s eating and she’s happy. Can you please tell me what could the cause of that?

The anti-fever shot was likely a steroid/anti-inflammatory injection which typically has side effects of increasing thirst and peeing. This may persist for another 1-3 days. If she continues to have to pee in the middle of the night after this time, consulting with your veterinarian is recommended as he/she may recommend bloodwork to further characterize whether or not she has persistent signs of an infection or kidney issues which can cause increased drinking and peeing as well. Good luck!
