My newborn kitten has a red lump on its belly. Should I see a vet?

Hello My cat just had babies and one of them has a red ball looking tight around her belly core is it a serious thing that I have to take her in to have the vet or is there’s anything I can do as a home remedy

You need to take the kitten into a vet immediately, this is a medical emergency. It looks like a herniation of the intestines, which cannot be treated at home. Please take her, your cat, and the other babies into a vet now

It's difficult to know what this might be without being able to see or feel the lump but unfortunately it is probably some type of birth defect in such a young kitten. Try to encourage this kitten to nurse and see a veterinarian as soon as you can.

cat just gave birth to 5 kittens all the kittens seem fine, but i noticed this seems that the ublicord seems to be apart of this as well but what is this and do i need to worry?
This is an umbilical hernia, ie the abdomen has a large hole through which abdominal content falls out and stretches the skin. I suggest you take your kitten to a vet for an exam. He may be able to fix it surgically with a few stitches after replacing the intestines into the abdomen, or with a bandage or wrap. This is a potentially life-threatening condition as intestines can get trapped and die off. Please take the kitten to the vet ASAP.

That doesn't look good. It looks like a hernia (possibly a section of intestines or the omentum) that has come out of the body and is now dried out. The other option is a dried umbilical stump. You really should try to get the kitten to a vet for an exam. It is difficult for me to say what you can do if I'm not sure what is going on. If you try some home treatment and that is a piece of intestines hanging out then you could certainly make it worse. I hope this helps. Best of luck.

Without seeing her in person it is difficult to know exactly what is going on. This could be an umbilical hernia, a local infection, or even a parasite embedded under the skin. I would have your vet take a look at her to ensure everything is normal and to see whether or not he needs any treatment. I hope this helps!

My two week old kitten has a swollen belly button. She is one of a litter of seven. Momma feeds often, she doesn't seem to notice or care of it.
This could be an umbilical hernia, or an infection of the umbilicus (belly button). I'd recommend having this kitten examined by your vet to see if any treatment is needed. If it is a hernia repair might be recommended when the kitten is older.

No, this is not normal. This is an emergency, your cat has a prolapsed uterus which needs to be put back into your cat. Please put a moist cloth or paper towel around it and immediately take your kitty to a PetER or veterinarian. The vet will need to sedate her and carefully push in the uterus. This is an emergency. Unfortunately you should take Baby to the veterinarian. Without actually performing a physical examination it is difficult to say what is causing the lump and if I can't say the cause we can't say how to treat it. You can call your local veterinarians and see what they charge for an office visit. With how young Baby is she needs other things which can add up in the cost of the visit. Without seeing her anal area it is difficult to tell what is going on with her. If there is a redness/bulging around the rectal area it is possible she is experiencing what is called a rectal prolapse which can be seen in kittens who have diarrhea, often due to parasitism with worms or protzoal organisms. It is best to have the kitten examined to see if this is what is going on, or if there is another cause for what you are seeing. They can test the kitten for parasites and also help determine its age and whether or not it is ready to get vaccinations to prevent future illness.

Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! If the swelling is at the belly button, is soft and non-painful it is likely an umbilical hernia. The herniation is usually fat through the body wall. Sometimes they can be pushed in (but come back out) or are permanently out. We usually fix them easily when they are spayed.
