Is my conure's closed, teary eye an infection or something stuck?

hello. i have a half moon conure and he is about a year old. his name is luigi. he has recently been closing his left eye a lot and only his left eye. he is acting perfectly normal, and still continues to eat and drink water. the bottom of the eye looks kinda teary, i’m not sure. does he have a infection, and is their any way i could help him?? home remedies perhaps? he scratches the affected area too. does he have something stuck in the eye?? please help

Thanks for reaching out about Luigi. This could be an eye infection or trauma, such as a scratched cornea. Irrigating with sterile saline such as used for contact lenses might dislodge a foreign body but a veterinary visit is recommended. A veterinarian should be able to prescribe an ophthalmic antibiotic for infection, or other medications if needed. Good luck.
