My cat won't eat wet food after her friend died. How can I help her?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Persian | Female | spayed | 10 years and 9 months old | 15 lbs

I had two cats, one of them recently died. The other cat now does not eat any type of meat i offer her but she eats dry cat food. Need to understand how can I get her to eat normal meat again as she is losing her health. Please advice.

I am sorry to hear about the passing of your cat. There could be many reasons why Juju is not wanting to eat the meat you are offering. https://www.petcoach.co/article/my-pet-is-a-finicky-eater/ Monitor Juju very closely for any signs of illness and have her examined if needed. Otherwise, try offering her a different kind of meat. You may also try a few brands of cat foods that most cats seems to like such as Fancy Feast. Try different flavors. Serve the food warm but not hot. You may also have her examined by the veterinarian to make sure she is healthy and that she does not have any resorptive lesions which are kind of like a cat cavity which could make her teeth sensitive. I hope this helps and please feel free to post any additional questions.
