Dog lymphoma: breathing problems, vomiting. Is it time to say goodbye?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Goldendoodle | Male | neutered | 85 lbs

Hello, my dog has lymphoma and is on 40mg prednisolone daily, he seems to be having his remission because hi breathing sounds like a growling sound, he will barely get up, and he throws up most of what he eats. His lymph nodes aren’t as enlarged as before so I wanted to know if there’s any in his chest to cause this breathing difficulty. Are there any last minute treatments? Also, when should I know when to let him go because it’s very difficult but I don’t want him to suffer like this. Thanks

There are many lymph nodes in the chest as well and any enlarged ones can cause these signs; unfortunately lungs may be infiltrated by the tumoral cells as well. An immediate check up is needed as x rays can confirm this clinical suspicion and decide whether further treatment can be an option.
