My bird bites me and doesn't trust me. Is it too late to train her?

Pet's info: Bird | Parakeet | Female | 0.5 lbs

Well I'm scared I messed up with my bird. I got her, and then left her alone for a long time. Like 4 months. I fed and watered her, but never gave her much attention. Now out of nowhere I decided to take her out of her cage. I wear winter gloves and she bites like crazy and I feel like she hates it, I dont think she trusts me. I'm afraid the damage is undoable, but I'm willing to do anything.

Thanks for reaching out about Alloute. Even though the trust and training has regressed, it is not too late to re-start. Consulting with a veterinary behaviorist can be rewarding but also look for the book "A Guide to a Well-Behaved Parrot". Keep all new movements slow and deliberate, environment should be peaceful. Off treats by hand, just start by placing treat NEAR her. Good luck.
