My guinea pig isn't eating, is bloated, and has a wet mouth. Vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Small Animal | Guinea Pig | Female | unspayed | 4.5 lbs

Hello! I woke up this morning and Cloe, my guinea pig, hadnt eaten anything from yesterday's dinner. I was confused because it had one of her favourite vegetables but sometimes she does this. When I went to clean her and her space, I noticed that her stomach was bloated and she had some wetness around her mouth area. Should I take her to the vet? I'm really scared

Thanks for reaching out about Chloe and including a photo. Yes, you should see a veterinarian as soon as possible. This could be very serious. Gastric distention can be a clinical sign of many problems, but early veterinary intervention has a better prognosis. Good luck.
