My kitten has a nasty URI with badly swollen eyes and he won’t stop rubbing them. They start to look better and then he runs them and irritates hem all over again. I have tobramycin drops for his eyes but the vet only instructed putting in the drops one drop in each eye twice a day. Will it alleviate his irritation to do more drops per day to avoid his eye rubbing? I cannot get him to quit even when I distract him with toys or food. Thanks for any help.

Tobramycin is an antibiotic. It will not help to alleviate itching or swelling. You will need to call your vet to get something for that - there is nothing over the counter you can put in the eyes for this. So sorry. The best you can do is use a cool/cold compress on the eyes which should help some - 5 minutes at a time if he will let you. Do this every few hours until you can talk to your vet.
