Why is my Yorkie pooping bright red bloody mucus but seems fine?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Yorkshire Terrier | Male | unneutered | 6 lbs

My male Yorkie has been pooping a bright red bloody mucus off and on for 2 days now. No vomiting, eating and drinking fine, urinating fine, still active, no other symptoms. Any idea what this may be causing this?

This could be due to a bacterial infection, eating something rotten, trauma to the GI tract, or a problem with Dobber's anal sacs. Blood in the feces is always concerning, so I'd have him checked out by a vet in the morning.
