How to keep my cat with past nerve damage safe in cold weather?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 1 year old

My cat last year had a difficult case of nerve damage because of a trauma and was paralysed, but now after months of medications and physiotherapy he is now healed and can walk again. I have just one thing to worry. He didnt react good to the cold last year and Im afraid if smth can happen to him again if he gets cold. His nerves were like frozen and Im afraid if they can freeze again. Can you please tell me smth? Im worried because winter is coming again in my country.

Hello. I would just make sure you limit any time Nova is outdoors & perhaps provide her with a heated pet bed when she in indoors. There are many available for cats on-line. You did a wonderful job healing her, so this would be a great way to keep her comfortable for the long winter months. You should also talk with your veterinarian to have some pain medication on hand to give as necessary. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
