Dog's infected teeth: Is it an emergency or can I wait for cleaning?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Female | spayed | 10 lbs

My dogs teeth look really infected. I have a cleaning scheduled for 10/16 but I am starting to worry this infection needs to be dealt with sooner. She sneezes a lot and I think it’s because of the gum disease. Please let me know if I need to be worried and should go to the animal hospital or if I can wait till the 16th for my vet to do the cleaning

The gum look quite inflamed and dental disease is needed. I don't think this is an emergency though and Cali can certainly wait until the 16/10. In the meantime antiseptic oral gel or antibiotics can be used. Please discuss these options with your local veterinarian. I don't think the sneezing episodes are related to the gum disease.
