My rabbit isn't eating. Are chickens teasing him and causing stress?

I love his name. I would recommend taking him to the vet as soon as possible.Rabbits need to eat every day to make there intestines work properly. I would recommend trying lots of roughage like timothy hay and dried fruits. Dry fruit is not good long term they are really high in sugars but it can help stimulate appetite. Sometimes stress can decrease appetite so try to keep him in a calm and low stress environment

Your bunny was probably just used to eating the lettuce and is adjusting to his new diet. You did the right thing by offering him only the pellets and hay. This is what is most beneficial to him. Rabbits will stop eating for a number of reasons - their teeth may be overgrown, their tooth roots may be infected, they could also have any other systemic disease (respiratory, urinary, infection, etc). As you can see, the causes are many and its impossible to say what is the underlying cause for sure without an exam and testing (usually radiographs, blood work, etc). Regardless of the cause, GI stasis is potentially fatal if left untreated. Therefore, I would urge you to get veterinary care ASAP. In the meantime, syringe feed Hobie with a liquid hay diet, ideally Oxbow herbivore critical care if you can get some, or soak the hay pellets in warm water to make a slurry. Hi there, there are a few reasons why Peter and his friend may not want to eat pellets - but the main thing is that they continue to eat hay abd have free access to as much as they want. If it was a big bag of pellets, it may have spoiled and tastes bad to them, try buying a small bag of their usual brand. Check the expiration. If they still won't eat the new bag, try a different brand. Also, some rabbits can develop over grown teeth that need to be checked by a vet - the pellets may be uncomfortable to chew if the teeth are over grown. Once again, as long as they're eating plenty of hay, that should make up the bulk of their meals. I hope this helps!

Bunnies like very slow, quiet movements, it may take a few days for him to let you get close enough to touch him. Is your rabbit sick? Is this eating habit new? If so he should be seen right away. If this is normal for him then a diet change is needed. Rabbits need a very gradual change. Over several weeks decrease the amount of carrots and he will gradually eat more pellets. Julius is a great name for a Rabbit. I am a little confused by your questions. it sounds like Julius was eating the old pellets well but when you tried to transition him to new pellets he stopped eating. When you offered him the old pellets he started eating again. If this is correct I would recommend slowly offering the new pellets while cutting back on the old pellets. You can even put them in the cage in different areas. I would not recommend mixing the pellets incase it makes Julius not eat at all. It is very important for rabbits to eat a large amount of roughage like timothy hay. I would recommend 90% roughage and only 10 % pellets. I hope that helps
